Isn’t it time for a BCS Playoff?

ISN’T IT TIME FOR A BCS PLAYOFF?

Alabama, Texas, Cincinnati, TCU, Boise State.  All five teams in the Top 10 BCS Rankings went unbeaten in the regular season.  Only two will get to play for the national title game.  Isn’t there a better way of determining the champion on the field?

How about the following:

All Top 10 BCS teams make the playoff system.

The conference champions from last year’s six strongest conferences get a first round bye into the Quarterfinals (Alabama, Texas, TCU, Oregon, Ohio State, and Georgia Tech).

The other four teams play first round games (held on Dec. 19th) with Florida vs Boise State, and Cincinnati vs Iowa.

The Quarterfinals (held on Dec. 26th) have Alabama vs Georgia Tech, TCU vs the winner of Florida/Boise State, Oregon vs. the winner of Cincinnati/Iowa, and Texas vs Ohio State.

Semifinals (held January 1st) have the Alabama (#1)/Georgia Tech winner vs the TCU (#4)/Florida-Boise State winner, and the Texas (#2)/Ohio State winner vs the Cincinnati(#3)-Iowa/Oregon winner

National Championship Game (held January 7th) has the Semifinal winners face off in the Rose Bowl as currently scheduled.

There are several playoff systems that have been proposed in recent years.  One can be found at www.bcsplayoff.org.  Isn’t it time for a BCS Playoff?
